Hansa Motors was an assembly plant for motor vehicles and thus part of the automotive industry in Ireland .

Company history

The Belgian Franz P. Saar came to Ireland in the early 1950s. He ran the Dublin- based company that also operated as a car dealership . The first mention is from 1952. However, the establishment can also have been made up to two years earlier. The assembly of automobiles began around 1952. The parts came from Lloyd , later from Borgward and Wartburg .

After 1964 the track of the company is lost.

vehicles

The company assembled the Lloyd 400 and possibly also the Lloyd Alexander from around 1952 to 1955 . The numbers remained small. From 1959, Merlin Motors continued assembly.

Borgward cars were manufactured from 1955 to 1962. Are called Isabella and Arabella . A total of 334 Borgward were built.

In addition, the Wartburg 311 was assembled from 1961 to 1964 .
