Hanseatic Parliament

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hanseatic Parliament is an amalgamation of more than 50 chambers of commerce ( chambers of crafts , chambers of commerce and similar institutions) around the Baltic Sea region . The common goal is to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The central office was based in Copenhagen and now in Hamburg, where the registered association is also registered. It is a strictly non-commercial organization. Cooperation between the members began in the early 1990s and specific (EU) funding projects have been carried out since 1994. The EU's eastward expansion in 2004 intensified cooperation with the eastern countries of the region. The organization has members from 11 countries: Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Denmark and Germany. The chairman of the association is Jürgen Hogeforster.

It was named after the Hanseatic League , a successful network in the Baltic Sea region for centuries. However, the Hanseatic Parliament focuses on the countries in this area ( Denmark , Germany , Poland , Latvia , Lithuania , Estonia , Russia , Belarus , Finland , Sweden and Norway ) and does not extend as far west as the classic Hanseatic League, the z. B. was also active in Bruges (Belgium) or England .

In 2010 the Hanseatic Parliament initiated the Baltic Sea Academy , a network of 15 universities and technical colleges from nine countries, in order to achieve increased cooperation between medium-sized businesses and academic institutions in the field of qualification and research .

In addition to business representatives, scientists and politicians, e.
