Harald Baumann (chemist)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harald Baumann (* 1951 ) is a German chemist in the field of photopolymerization.

Life

Baumann studied chemistry at the Technical University of Merseburg and received his doctorate in 1979 under Heinz GO Becker . After a stay at the Lomonossow State University in Moscow , he completed his habilitation in 1986 in the field of photochemical electron transfer and its use for photopolymerization at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg . From 1984 to 1992 Baumann worked at the ORWO Wolfen film factory, initially as head of the research department for silver-free recording materials, and later as chairman of the entire research department. In 1992 he moved to Kodak Graphic Communications GmbH in Osterode am Harz , where he was head of the research department for negative-working printing plates until he retired in 2016.

Publications

Harald Baumann is the author of more than sixty scientific publications and the holder of nearly ninety patents . While early scientific papers often deal with electron transfer processes and photopolymerization, later papers often deal with chemical aspects of offset printing . Baumann is one of the authors of the article on imaging technologies in Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Technical Chemistry .
