Harald Hofmann (basketball player)

Harald Hofmann (* 1975 ) is a former German basketball player .

career

Hofmann originated from Steiner Bayreuth's youth work . He went to the United States and studied at Santa Clara University  in the state of California from 1993 to 1997 . The 2.06 meter indoor player was a member of the college team in the 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons, which also included the future NBA player Steve Nash  . In both game years Hofmann won the championship title in the West Coast Conference (WCC) with Santa Clara , but the German only came to one use during this time, in which he scored two points and booked three rebounds in the 1994/95 season. In 2017 he was inducted into the college's sports hall of fame as a member of the Santa Clara team, which won the WCC championship twice .

In the final phase of the 1996/97 season he was used by his home club Steiner Bayreuth in the basketball league  and contributed to securing relegation. Afterwards Hofmann went back to the United States, studied at Fresno City College and was part of its basketball team in the 1997/98 season. There he came up with some strong performances, in early March 1998 he scored 27 points and 15 rebounds in the game against Los Angeles City College . From 1998 to 2000 Hofmann played and studied at Concordia University Irvine, also in California . With 189 offensive rebounds he was in fourth place in the university team's all-time best at the time of his departure from the squad. After completing his degree in economics , he returned to Germany and obtained a further degree in business administration from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management . Hofmann worked professionally in the area of financial planning .
