Harp guitar or guitar harp denotes a not clearly defined group of historical and present-day box necks which, in addition to the strings that run over a fingerboard like a guitar, have other strings in the same string plane that are plucked without shortening and are reminiscent of a harp . The additionally attached string bundle adds bass or drone tones to the sound spectrum , which serve to expand the harmony structure.

In the Alpine region, the double guitar or the Schrammel guitar is the most common form of the harp guitar.
