Harold Mrazek (born April 17, 1973 in Freiburg im Üechtland ) is a former Swiss basketball player.

As a player, Mrazek became, among other things, ten times Swiss champion, with ASVEL Villeurbanne he also won the championship title in France. He is considered one of the best players in Swiss basketball history. Mrazek received the nickname “Mozart of Swiss basketball” during his playing career and “The divine bald head” because of his striking bald head.

Career

In his youth, Mrazek played basketball (beginning at the age of ten), football, tennis and athletics. With Villars Basket he made promotion to the second division in the late 1980s, in 1991 he went to Friborg Olympic , with the team he became Swiss champion in 1992. In 1993 he moved to Bellinzona and won the championship title with the team in 1994 and 1995. In 1996 Mrazek returned to Friborg and was Swiss champions three times in a row with Olympic from 1997 to 1999. Between 1999 and 2001 he went basket-hunting for the Lugano Snakes , including winning the championship titles in 2000 and 2001.

Mrazek then ventured into neighboring France and signed with the top club ASVEL Villeurbanne . He was supposed to stay in Villeurbanne from 2001 until the end of the 2005/06 season and temporarily served as team captain. In 2002 he became French champion with ASVEL and a year later he was runner-up. As part of a friendly against the then NBA champions San Antonio Spurs , Mrazek was bid farewell in 2006 in Villeurbanne.

He spent the last two seasons of his professional career at Friborg Olympic, each of which was crowned with the Swiss championship title.

After retiring as a player, Mrazek served as Technical Director and Vice President of Friborg Olympic between 2009 and 2013. His main occupation was after his career as a professional basketball player in banking.

He played for the Swiss senior national team between 1993 and 2003 .

Personal

Mrazek is the son of Czech parents who both played for the Czechoslovak national team and who left the delegation in 1970 during an international trip to France. His parents first played in France before his father was hired by Friborg Olympic as a player-coach.

At the age of 16, Harold Mrazek met Chantal, who nine years later became his wife. Between 1996 and 2000 he completed an economics degree at the University of Freiburg .
