Harold Robinson
Harold "Hal" Robinson (born July 29, 1952 in Houston ) is an American double bass player and music teacher.
Robinson graduated from Northwestern University and the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. He was principal bassist with the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra (1975–1977), the Houston Symphony Orchestra (1977–1985), the National Symphony Orchestra (1985–1995) and, since 1995, the Philadelphia Orchestra . In 1982 he was the winner of the Isle of Man Solo Competition . He has played concerts with the Houston Symphony Orchestra and the Houston Pops Orchestra , the New York Philharmonic Orchestra , the American Chamber Orchestra and the Greenville Orchestra, and has given master classes in the USA, Korea, Japan and Europe. He teaches double bass at the Curtis Institute of Music and since 2015 at the Juilliard School of Music .
