Harold Simmons

Harold Simmons (born May 13, 1931 in Golden , Texas , † December 28, 2013 in Dallas , Texas) was an American entrepreneur .

Life

Simmons' Baptist parents were Reuben Leon (1894-1954) and Fairess Clark Simmons (1903-1990) and worked as teachers. Simmons studied economics at the University of Texas . He was third married and had six children. Simmons owned the US companies Contran Corporation and Valhi, Incorporation. Furthermore, he controlled majority of the companies NL Industries , Titanium Metals Corporation , Waste Control Specialists , CompX International and Kronos Worldwide . According to Forbes Magazine , Simmons was one of the richest Americans and was listed in The World's Billionaires in 2013 .
