Harpstedt group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Harpstedter group is in North Germany -based culture of the Iron Age , known by archaeological excavations. It is named after the Harpstedter Rauhtopf , which is named after a site in Harpstedt in the Oldenburg district in Lower Saxony . It is a coarse, unadorned clay vessel with a wavy edge produced by fingernail impressions. In addition, it had a layer of clay on the outside, which gives a rough impression.

It probably represents a proto-Germanic culture such as the neighboring cultural groups of the Harpstedt-Nienburger group and the Jastorf culture . However, since no written certificates are known, a reliable assignment is not possible.
