Harri Engelmann

Harri Engelmann (born October 14, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German writer .

Life

Engelmann grew up in Rostock . At the age of 28, he lost his driving license due to drunk driving. This event led him to write stories. In the mid-1980s he belonged to the support class of the Rostock Writers' Association, at the same time he completed a distance learning course at the Institute for Literature in Leipzig. In 1987 his debut "Signals in the Rain" appeared, a collection of short stories. For this he received the New Life publishing house's debutant award in 1988 . After the fall of the Wall he worked as a car salesman in a Rostock car dealership. He processed the experiences he made there in the short story volume "Notes of a car salesman". In 2000 “Japanese Garden” was published, a book about life in the NVA .

Engelmann lives in Klein Nienhagen near Altenhagen near Kröpelin .
