Harro Remmert

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harro Remmert (born January 7, 1943 in Magdeburg ) is one of the most successful German jockeys and gallop trainers.

Harro Remmert is one of the few who managed to win the German Derby both as a jockey - in 1973 at Athenagoras - and as a coach - in 1995 with All My Dreams . As a jockey, he had won 552 races when he had a serious accident in a race on the Krefeld racecourse in April 1976. His horse Arpadshied and ran with him into a wooded area, where Harro Remmert broke a vertebra in a fall, which led to paraplegia that has since tied him to the wheelchair. Just one year later he started working as a trainer. By the end of 2002 he added 1021 victories as a coach to his victories as a jockey, before ending his career for private reasons after 25 years of coaching.
