Harry Cleaver (political scientist)

Harry Cleaver Jr. (born January 21, 1944 ) is an American scientist, Marxist theorist, and professor emeritus from the University of Texas at Austin .

Life

Cleaver went to school at Beavercreek High School and studied economics at Antioch College in Ohio . He embarked on an academic career and eventually received his PhD from Stanford University in 1975 . He then worked at the University of Texas at Austin from 1976/1977.

He became known as the author of the work "Reading Capital politically" (in translation: "read the capital 'politically"), which appeared in 1979. Cleaver is currently also involved in the Zapatista movement in Chiapas , Mexico .
