Harry Crafton

Harry Crafton (* Philadelphia ) was an American rhythm and blues singer, songwriter and guitarist .

Harry Crafton is remembered as the songwriter of Jimmy Prestons and Bill Haley's song "Rock the Joint" (also: "We're Gonna Rock This Joint Tonight" ). From 1949 to 1954 he recorded a few pieces under his own name for Irving Ballen's Gotham label , but they did not bring him any hits. He also appeared under the band name The Jivetones and The Craft Tones and stylistically based on artists such as "Cleanhead" Vinson and Jimmy Witherspoon . Well-known Crafton songs were "It's Been a Long Time Baby" , "Rusty Dusty" and "Guitar Boogie" . After his time with the Gotham label, he played with Doc Starke's Niteriders , who recorded for labels such as MGM , Apollo, Teen, Sound and Swan, but without much commercial success. After the group broke up in the 1960s, Crafton disappeared from the music business.
