Harry Lamott Crowl

Harry Lamott Crowl (born October 6, 1958 in Belo Horizonte ) is a Brazilian composer and musicologist .

Crowl was a violin student of José de Mattos and studied music theory at the music school of the Fundação Clóvis Salgado . In 1977 he went to the USA, where he studied viola at the Westport School of Music and composition with Charles Jones at the Juilliard School of Music . He later completed his composition studies with Peter Sculthorpe in England.

From 1984 to 1994 he taught at the University of Ouro Preto , where he headed the Faculty of Music between 1986 and 1988 and between 1990 and 1992. He has also given lectures in Chile, the USA, Portugal and Denmark.

Crowl's catalog raisonné includes more than 100 compositions, including chamber music works, four symphonies, several instrumental concerts and choral music.
