Hartmut Kress

Hartmut Kreß (* 1954 ) is a German Protestant theologian and ethicist.

Life

After his habilitation in 1989, he was a visiting professor for philosophy at the University of Rostock in 1990 . From 1993 to 2000 he was professor for systematic theology with a focus on ethics in the theological faculty in Kiel , where he was the founder and until 2000 spokesman of the interdisciplinary center for ethics at the University of Kiel . Since 2000 he has been professor of systematic theology, especially ethics, in the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn , Department of Social Ethics. Due to his retirement, he will be released from his regular teaching duties at the University of Bonn from the winter semester 2019/2020. Since 2018 he has been teaching at the Law Faculty of the University of Düsseldorf .

Research areas

In his publications, Kreß deals with the modern history of ethics and fundamental questions of ethics, including theories of responsibility ethics. In applied ethics, he deals with medical and bioethics, legal ethics and political ethics, religious and ideological law and issues of labor law.
