Paweł Kaczmarczyk (born February 8, 1984 in Cracow ) is a Polish jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Kaczmarczyk already took part in jazz festivals with his band as a schoolboy and won his first awards and prizes. In 2000 he began informal training under Janusz Muniak . Then he studied jazz until 2006 at the Karol Szymanowki Music Academy in Katowice.

During his studies, Kaczmarczyk founded the trio KBD in 2001 with Michał Baranski on bass and Paweł Dobrowolski on drums , which released a live album in 2005. In 2007, Audiofeeling appeared in various additions to the quartet . With his debut album under his own name Complexity in Simplicity , which was released on the ACT label in 2009 , he conquered the European jazz stages; he was a guest at the Leverkusen Jazz Days as well as at Palatia jazz and other international jazz festivals. He worked with Lee Konitz , Jon Christensen , Mino Cinelu , Emil Mangelsdorff , Poogie Bell, Hadrien Feraud , Eivind Aarset , Arild Andersen , Theodosii Spassov , Janusz Muniak, Piotr Wojtasik , Adam Pierończyk and Zbigniew Namysłowski . With his “Audiofeeling Trio” he released the album Something Personal in 2015 , which was followed in 2016 by Vars & Kaper: DeconstructION . Kaczmarczyk can also be heard on albums by Rafał Sarnecki , New Bone , Grzech Piotrowski, Leszek HeFi Wiśniowski (with Krzesimir Dębski ) and Kari Sál .

Prizes and awards

Kaczmarczyks was honored with the KBD Trio a year after it was founded at competitions such as Jazz Juniors . His live album with the KBD Trio was rated "Album of the Year 2005" by TVP2 . He then won other prizes such as the double award in 2010 as “Artist of the Year” and with the “Album of the Year” also the renowned “Grand Prix Jazz Melomani” of the Polish “Jazz Society”. He received the title “Artist of the Year” repeatedly for 2016 and in the following year the title “Album of the Year” for the album Vars & Kaper: DeconstructION . The readers of the Polish trade magazine Jazz Forum have repeatedly chosen it as the “new hope of Polish jazz”.
