Palatia jazz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

palatia jazz is a series of concerts that takes place from May to the end of August throughout the Palatinate .

These are jazz concerts in the entire range of contemporary jazz genres. International jazz stars and up-and-coming artists have been invited to the festival every year since 1997. Over the period, 13-18 concerts will take place, almost all of which are designed as open-air events in historical places in the Palatinate. The next Generation presentation, first introduced in 2007 , aims to include younger German jazz musicians in the preliminary program.

The concert series is now known far beyond the borders of the region and attracts more than 10,000 visitors every year.

history

The concert series was initially initiated in 1999 along the German Wine Route . From the beginning a combination of sophisticated, entertaining jazz with the Palatinate cuisine was decisive for the events. In the course of time, the concert series expanded to the entire Palatinate with up to 12 municipalities, so that today venues from Kusel and Pirmasens in the west to Frankenthal and Speyer in the east are involved in the program.

The music festival originally took place in Deidesheim in 1997 and 1998 under the name “Jazzette-Deidesheimer Jazztage”. Since 1999 the event has been organized across the Palatinate under the name "palatia jazz - the Palatinate wine-culinary jazz festival". The founder is Suzette Yvonne Moissl.

A number of well-known jazz musicians have been guests at the previous concert series, such as B. Manu Katché , David Sanborn , Incognito , Tab Two , Klaus Doldinger , Paul Kuhn Trio , Jasper van't Hof , Nils Landgren , Al Di Meola , Joo Kraus , DePhazz , Jazzkantine , Barbara Hendricks , Cornelius Claudio Kreusch , Till Brönner , Nigel Kennedy , Quadro Nuevo , Chick Corea , NoJazz , Joachim Kühn , Maria João , Tânia Maria , Branford Marsalis , Cassandra Wilson , Joshua Redman , Silje Nergaard , Peter Herbolzheimer , Albert Mangelsdorff , Mal Waldron , Joe Zawinul and Herbie Mann .
