Hadrien Feraud (* 16th August 1984 in Paris ) is a French jazz - bassist .

biography

Feraud was born into a family in which music always played an important role. His parents, both professional musicians, introduced him to music of various genres at an early age. These included rock 'n' roll , blues , funk , new wave and jazz . As a child, Feraud actually wanted to be an actor . Furthermore, as a child he showed a great interest in film music ; he listened to film music for hours.

At the age of 8, Hadrien Feraud received guitar lessons from his father. As a ten-year-old he began to listen to the bass lines from the songs of various bands and artists and to play them back. However, his interest initially shifted from guitar to drums . The turning point came when, at the age of 12, he received and heard Jaco Pastorius ' album The Birthday Concert as a gift from his father. Feraud, fascinated by Pastorius, began an intensive study of the electric bass and then analyzed the techniques of well-known bass players.

In 2001 he played with Biréli Lagrène (guitar), Sylvain Luc (guitar) and Franck Agulhon (drums) at the “Basse Contre Basse” memorial concert, in memory of the double bass player François Jenny-Clark . There he attracted greater public attention for the first time. In 2002 Feraud founded his own formation, the jazz trio Le Cartel . Lagrène is considered to be the discoverer of Feraud. He recognized his talent, encouraged him and invited Feraud with his formation Le Cartel to concerts, for example in 2002 to a concert in the Hotel Trianon Palace in Versailles .

At the end of 2004 Hadrien Feraud began working on his first solo project. At the same time he played regularly in clubs and jam sessions in the Paris club scene. In 2005 John McLaughlin invited Hadrien Feraud to record the bass part for two songs ( For Jaco , Senor CS ) on his album Industrial Zen . The participation on this album was of crucial importance for Hadrien Feraud's further career.

In 2006 his debut album Hadrien Feraud was released . In 2007 he was a member of Chick Coreas 5Trio project . He then toured the United States and Canada . A tour through Europe followed in 2008 with "John McLaughlin and the 4th dimension".

In the meantime, Hadrien Feraud, with his talent on bass, is one of the world's most famous jazz bassists.

Hadrien Feraud also arranged and produced the album New Electric Band by Biréli Lagrène. In September 2009 Hadrien Feraud and Ken Smith announced the “Hadrien Feraud Signature Burner”, which was to be built in Japan by Hajime Hirose and SleekElite under the leadership of Ken Smith. After hand-made models, slightly simplified series models appeared from 2010.

Hadrien Feraud lives and works in Los Angeles .
