Breakfast with hash browns

Hash browns [ ˌhæʃˈbɹaʊnz ] (from English hash “minced” and brown “brown”) or hashed brown potatoes are a way of preparing potatoes in North American cuisine .

For the dish, raw potatoes are grated and the starch is rinsed out under running water. The spiced mass is then fried on both sides in the pan. Unlike potato fritters , hash browns contain neither egg nor flour.
