Mesut Hastürk

Mesut Hastürk (born April 1, 1966 in Nevşehir ) is a Turkish poet and playwright and screenwriter.

Life

Hastürk studied communication science at the University of Ankara . He wrote for various magazines, including the literary magazine Edebiyat Dostlari .

In 1990 he went to Istanbul and worked there for three years as an editor and publisher. In 1992 his first volume of poetry was published with the title Şehri Göğe Astılar (German = “You hung the city on the sky”). With many artists he signed the manifesto for the artist movement . This artist movement triggered a discussion at the state level and in 1994 jointly published the collection of poems Kunduz Düşleri (German = "Biber's Dreams"). At the end of 1993 he moved to Germany. Hastürk wrote and staged a play there entitled Foreign Plants , which premiered in 1996 at the University of Hamburg . He writes articles as well as stories and poems. In April 2005 he published his second volume of poetry, Nar'aşk . In 2009 he wrote scripts for the television series Manyak Dükkan (On Show TV). The series was shot in Berlin-Kreuzberg with actors from the Turkish émigré milieu.

Hastürk works as a journalist and editor and has lived in Berlin since 2000.
