The main office for technology in the NSDAP was a party office of the NSDAP . It was founded on May 31, 1934 as the Office for Technology and renamed the Main Office for Technology in 1936. Predecessor offices of the Office for Technology were the Engineering-Technical Department (ITA) established in November 1931 at the Reich leadership of the NSDAP and the sub-commission for economic engineering of the Central Political Commission of the NSDAP (U III B of the PZK of the NSDAP), which had existed since November 1932 . Since 1934 Fritz Todt , who had previously also been the head of the ITA, was head of the office, and Albert Speer after his death in 1942 .

The (main) office for technology was subordinate to the Reich leadership of the NSDAP and thus to the chief of staff of the political organization of the NSDAP (later renamed Reich organizational leader ). This position has been filled by Robert Ley since 1932 .

The head of the (main) office for technology was also Reichswalter of the NS-Bund Deutscher Technik (NSBDT; until 1935: NS-Bund Deutscher Techniker ), the successor organization to the Kampfbund Deutscher Architekten und Ingenieure , which was dissolved in 1933 . In addition to taking care of the NSBDT, the office had an advisory role for all NSDAP offices on technical issues.

With the Control Council Act No. 2 of October 10, 1945, the Main Office for Technology was banned by the Allied Control Council and its property was confiscated.
