The main post office in Gliwice is a historic building in the city center. It is located on the north side of Niederwallstraße (ulica Dolnych Wałów) near the old town .

history

The main post office was built between 1903 and 1906 on the property of the Gliwice Stock Exchange. The new post office on Niederwallstrasse replaced the old post office on Wilhelmstrasse from 1887. The old building became too small and an extension could not be carried out at this point.

The main post office was included in the monument register of the Silesian Voivodeship .

architecture

The main post office is a neo-Gothic brick building and is 67 meters long. The post office has a large tower and a small corner tower. The green glazed bricks are a design element between the red bricks. In addition, the facade has decorative plaster surfaces. On the ground floor there are several white heraldic cartouches on the facade .

There is a double gable above the main entrance, as well as another gable above the western entrance.
