Gila Funny
Gila Lustiger (born April 27, 1963 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German writer .
Life
Gila Lustiger is the daughter of the German-Jewish historian Arno Lustiger (1924–2012). In 1981 she went to Israel , where she studied German and comparative literature at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem from 1982 to 1986 . From 1983 to 1986 she was also a lecturer for German literature and children's literature in Tel-Aviv . In 1987 she moved to Paris with the writer Emmanuel Moses , where she is still based today. Until 1989 she worked as a journalist for the German-language program of Radio France Internationale and the ZDF . Since 1989 she has worked as an editor for various French publishers . She has also published novels since 1995. In 1997 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . She is also a member of the PEN Center Germany .
In her first novel, The Inventory, Gila Lustiger dealt with the fate of the Jews during the Third Reich . From a beautiful world is a marriage novel told from a female perspective . With the autobiographical novel So are we , in which she describes the story of a Jewish family in post-war Germany, Lustiger achieved a public success; the book was on the shortlist for the German Book Prize in 2005 . Her crime and social novel The Guilt of Others became a bestseller in 2015. It is primarily about solving a murder of a student that occurred decades ago; criminal entanglements between unscrupulous politicians, lobbyists and large corporations become clear. In the same year she received the Robert Gernhardt Prize for her novel project Die Entronnenen . In 2016 Lustiger was awarded the Jakob Wassermann Literature Prize and the Horst Bingel Prize for Literature for her essay Concussion - On Terror , and in 2017 she received the Stefan Andres Prize , especially for The Guilt of Others and the Essay Concussion . From October 2017 on, Lustiger will be the first city clerk in the Ruhr for one year .
