The Odessa Main Post Office ( Ukrainian Одеський головпоштамт ) is a historical building and architectural monument in the center of the Ukrainian city of Odessa .
The Odessa Main Post Office was built between 1893 and 1895 on 10 Sadova Street ( вул. Садова ) and was the first building in the Russian Empire to be designed as a communications center. It has a large central hall that is illuminated by a transparent roof. The architects of the building were Vladislav Alexandrovich Dombrowski ( Владислав Александрович Домбровский ; 1854-1917) and Vladimir Fedorovich Kharlamov ( Владимир Федорович Харламов ; 1860-1907), site manager was A. Dorofeev ( А. Дорофеев ). During the German occupation in World War II , the building was badly damaged in 1944 and restored between 1956 and 1962. The Odessa City Regional Committee declared the building an architectural monument on April 20, 1982.
