The Hüttenberger Hoftor

The half-timbered house in the main street 192 in Hörnsheim , one of the two places of the district lodge mountain in the municipality of the same Hüttenberg in Lahn-Dill ( Central Hesse ) is a Hessian cultural monument (no. 44797). The residential building with the overbuilt Hüttenberger Tor is a characteristic example of its kind in the south of the Lahn-Dill district. The rear parts of the four-sided courtyard are not listed.

The eaves- facing house on the south side of the thoroughfare to Linden is plastered in a yellowish white. The roof ends on both sides with a crooked hip , to the southeast the house is connected to the neighboring building, to the northwest to the covered gate of the neighboring building. The multi-axis building is penetrated in the middle by a covered gate that ends with a Hüttenberger gate. In the base of the southern part of the building there is a stone with the indication of the year of construction 1858.

The green wooden Hüttenberger farm gate is divided on the left with a gate, on the right with a gate. The center stand between the two areas rests on an old curbstone. The two outer posts of the gate have been shortened and sit on the base of the plastered half-timbered house. The door travel ends with a straight lintel which is held in place by two short curved struts. The gate is closed with simple straight angled bands. In the compartment above the gate there is a double Greek cross, the boarding behind it is not original. The load-bearing timber of the gate has been renewed, the original structure of the gate is not known. The collar band on the lintel and the frame wood has a slight relief.

The lintel is provided with a three-line, regionally unusual, inscription. In the white inscription, the master carpenter (ZM) Schmidt is indicated, who is likely to have built at least the house of the homestead for Johann Borck and his wife Anna Maria in 1858. The inscription “The Lord has helped us up to this point” refers to the words of the prophet Samuel in the Bible passage 1 Sam 7,12  EU . There is reported about the stone Eben-Ezer ("Stone of Help [God]"), which Samuel is said to have erected after the victory over the Philistines.

EBENEZER: SAMUEL 7 VERSE 12.
