Haus Brüggeney was a mansion in today's Bochum district of Stiepel , not far from the Ruhr . The house was not far from today's old lock in Stiepel, on the cul-de-sac from Brockhauser Strasse to Blankenstein lock .

history

This manor house was the seat of the noble Brüggeney family, called Hasenkamp. This family was locally influential and at times exercised an overriding influence. A member of this house was Master of the Order of Livonia . The Weitmar house in Weitmar was built by them and moved into after completion.

The successor building to Haus Brüggeney was demolished in the 1970s.

As in the current places Oveney and Heveney a little above the Ruhr, the ending -ey expressed the proximity to the Ruhr, the word "brügge" was taken from the word "Brücke", although in this case it was more of a fortified ford .
