House Dahl

Haus Dahl - also called "Haus Schenk" after the former owners - is presumably the oldest farmhouse in Oberberg . It is located in the district of Dahl in the municipality of Marienheide in the Oberbergisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia , Germany .

According to tradition, the farmhouse was built after 1585 (the year allegedly on the lintel of the gable end has not been preserved) and was extensively restored in 2003. The two-storey building (lower floor quarry stone, upper floor half-timbered ) belongs to the Low German hall house type , whose distribution area once stretched from the Agger to the North Sea . A thatched storage vault is located in front of the gable facing away from the entrance. Inside, the historical room layout of the so-called "Flettdeelenhaus" (people and animals under one roof) has been largely preserved or restored.

House Dahl was acquired by the Oberbergischer Kreis and houses a branch of the Oberbergisches Heimatmuseum " Schloss Homburg ". It offers an insight into the life and work of the farmers of that time and documents the life of the Schenk family up to 1963.
