House real houses
The house Echthausen is a moated castle in Wickede - Echthausen . The property, which has been a listed building since 1987, is not open to the public as it is privately owned.
history
The Echthausen house was first mentioned in a legal dispute between Emperor Konrad II and the Werden Abbey .
It once belonged to the Counts of Arnsberg , then until 1835 to the von Böckenförde family called Schüngel . Until 1909 it belonged to the family of Lilien heirs , who sold it to Baron von Boeselager in 1924 . In 1991, his descendants sold the very dilapidated property to the entrepreneurial family Bente, who extensively renovated all buildings and the associated park and have since used it as a residence.
The basement and ground floor in the western part of the house form the oldest building stock from 1530. The present, middle part of the manor house was probably added between 1570 and 1620. In the 18th century the building received an additional half-timbered floor . With the addition of the east wing in 1910, the last extension took place along with the redesign of windows and doors.
After a long vacancy, the property was ready for demolition at the end of the 20th century. A private investor bought it and renovated it.
location
The former manor Echthausen is located directly on the road from Neheim to Wickede, near the southern bank of the Ruhr.
