Hoffmeyer House

The Hoffmeyer house in Bremerhaven - Mitte , Friesenstrasse 6, was built in 1935 according to plans by Hans Scharoun .
The building has been a listed building in Bremen since 1994 .

history

Hans Scharoun, who grew up in Bremerhaven, designed the two-story house in 1935 for his friend and brother-in-law, the lawyer and notary Hans Helmuth Hoffmeyer.
In 1919 Scharoun joined the expressionist group of architects Gläsernekette by Bruno Taut . He became known in 1927 through a residential building in the Weißenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart . He stayed in Germany during the National Socialist era . His designs at this time - mostly residential houses - he had to adapt to the politically determined building regulations on the outside, while inside he showed the typical Scharoun architecture and room sequences.

The villa was thoroughly renovated in detail after 2000. The Scharoun Society has registered the building.
