Haus Horst is a former castle complex on the Rhine in the urban area of Kleve in North Rhine-Westphalia .
history
Haus Horst was first mentioned in 1371. Since the location of the building is described as "opposite Emmerich ", it must have been near the village of Warbeyen . The complex can be traced back to 1503 as a Klevian fief of the van der Horst family; So far nothing is known about the further history.
It is possible that the castle was destroyed and demolished over time by floods and relocation of the Rhine, as is known for the Halt house a few kilometers downstream .
The Überhorsthof , today on Emmericher Straße, was named by Frankewitz as a possible former location.
