Lawaczeck house

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lawaczeck house is a former late classicist town house in Nieukerk ( Kleve district ). It houses a local museum and meeting rooms .

history

The mayor of Nieukerk Pohl had the house built as a residential building in 1859. The Lawaczeck family of manufacturers , who had been running a dye works in Kerken since 1809 , acquired it in 1863. It remained in their possession until the last company owner died in 1998 and the heirs were ready to open the prestigious house to the public. The historical association for Geldern and the surrounding area finally took over the building entirely in 2001 and set up a meeting place with a local museum in it.

Appearance and Purpose

The building has classical elements in the facade . These include the risalit in the middle, the jamb and the eaves and windowsill cornices. The profiled door frame is also assigned to this style.

Inside, a structural change was only made on the first floor by connecting three smaller rooms to create an exhibition room that presents changing exhibitions on the history, art and culture of the Lower Rhine and the Netherlands as well as Gelderland. Workshops, working groups, concerts and slide presentations can also be held here.
