The House of Architecture , HDA for short, is a non-profit association for the mediation of architecture and the promotion of contemporary building culture. The aim of the HDA is to act as a platform for all areas of architecture, urban development and spatial planning, both in the interest of a wide variety of social groups and with the involvement of related disciplines, and to be the contact person for all questions relating to building culture.

Location

From 1988 to the end of 2007, the House of Architecture was housed in a city villa at Engelgasse 3–5 in Graz. After the revitalization of the baroque Palais Thinnfeld by the ifau Institute for Applied Urban Studies and Jesko Fezer, the HDA moved to Mariahilferstrasse 2 in the center of Graz and has been located on the ground floor of the Palais since 2008.

history

Haus der Architektur was founded in 1988 during a particularly productive phase of Styrian architecture, when a large number of high-quality and often sensational projects were implemented in both residential and public areas. This development was supported by architects and committed people from politics and administration who cultivated a lively exchange and were already active in numerous organizations. So it came about that the House of Architecture was conceived from the beginning as a platform for the most important institutions involved in architecture. The Forum Stadtpark , the Chamber of Civil Technicians for Styria and Carinthia, the State of Styria, the City of Graz, the Technical University of Graz and the Central Association of Architects in Austria , Styria Section have been the sponsors of the house and represented on the board since then.
