The German name house spider is used for various indoor spiders - species that sometimes even belong to different families . These are for example:
- the large angle spider Eratigena atrica
- the house corner spider Tegenaria domestica (= Tegenaria derhami )
- (more rarely) the rust-red angle spider Malthonica ferruginea
- the wall angle spider Tegenaria parietina
Actually incorrect the popularly referred to another, living in the wild similar species of the genus tegenaria Tegenaria or Eratigena as "house spider" when they get lost in the building, for example,
- the field angle spider
- the similar looking forest angle spider
The genus Tegenaria (in the broader sense, with the species that were transferred to the genus Eratigena in 2013 ) was named Spider of the Year in Europe in 2008 . The choice should make a broad audience understand that these cultural followers are definitely valuable beneficials .
In some areas, building-dwelling species of the genus of the trembling spider ( Pholcus ) are also referred to as house spiders .
