High society

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

High Society ( English for "high society") describes the group of people with the greatest material wealth and the highest social status within a society (cf. German : " upper class " / " elite "). The term Hautevolee , borrowed from French, is a synonym for the English name.

High Snobiety (mixture of the English terms high society and snob ) is a negative term for the same group of people, which is mostly used to complain or make fun of the (perceived) imagination or arrogance of members of high society. Under the heading of the Duden dictionary, there is a “group of society that claims to belong to high society through a corresponding snobbish lifestyle”. The term also implies a certain pride in not belonging to said upper class. In this sense, the term was also used in the brand name of the street wear - Blogs Highsnobiety .
