The Haw Par Villa ( Chinese  虎豹 別墅  /  虎豹 别墅 , Pinyin Hǔbào Biéshù ) is a park of Chinese fairy tales and myths in Singapore . It was built in 1937 for 1 million Singapore dollars and was completed after two years of construction. The client was the Burmese Aw Boon Haw , who had the facility built as a domicile for his younger brother Aw Boon Par.

The best-known product of the two brothers is the Tiger Balm , a liniment available worldwide. The original name of the park was (until 1985) Tiger Balm Gardens .

There are over 1000 statues and 150 large representations around Chinese legends, folklore and the teachings of Confucius on the site. In 1985 the park was equipped with rides and special effects, but this did not have the hoped-for success. They are now no longer in operation and the site has been returned to its original state.

In addition to the main attractions of the park, a copy of the famous Tiger Car can be viewed . Originally a German NSU , built in 1927, with tiger stripes and a large tiger head as a cooler. The original was destroyed during the Japanese occupation of Singapore. The copy is a 1925 Buick, converted from old photos of the original.

The new Jade House with over 150 pieces of jade from the two brothers' collection, which was created between 1932 and 1939, is also located on the site . The original of the Jade House was on Nassim Road and was demolished in 1990.

Admission is free. Entry to the Jade House and the 10 Chambers of Hell ( 十 殿 閻羅  /  十 殿 阎罗 , Shí Diàn Yánluó , English 10 Courts of Hell ) costs SGD 1 for adults and SGD 0.50 for children.
