Head Job is the first solo album by longtime AC / DC drummer Phil Rudd .

Emergence

The first ideas for the solo album came up after Rudd left AC / DC in 1983, but according to Rudd the ideas were basically planned for AC / DC. The album was recorded with the two local musicians Geoffrey Martin as guitarist and Allan Badger as bassist and singer, whom Rudd had known for over 25 years. The final version of Head Job was recorded in Auckland in 2014 and published on August 29, 2014. The first and only single, Repo Man , was released in July 2014.

After the album flopped, Rudd was arrested in November 2014 on charges of hiring an employee to kill someone responsible. After many trials, drug withdrawal, house arrest and a heart attack, Rudd has his life back under control. Head Job was republished on September 30, 2016.

Back On The Beat Tour

Simultaneously with the re-release of Head Job it was announced that Rudd and his band will be promoting the album on a tour through Europe. From March 31, 2017 the Phil Rudd Band (Allan Badger (vocals), Geoffrey Martin (lead guitar), John Proctor (bass, backing vocals), Mike "Mutt" Furness (rhythm guitar)) will be on tour in 18 different countries. At the end of March, Rudd rehearsed with his band for a week in a recording studio in downtown Vienna. The concerts on the tour have a playing time of around 45 - 50 minutes and usually have the following set list (see graphic next door).

Equipment

The organizer provided sets (always Sonor in 22, 13, 16, 18; depth varying; including a designer in Tulip Green, an Ascent in black, a ProLite in Ebony and even his own signature kit) and hardware, Phil only took his Giant Step foot machine, cymbals and snares. The Austria and Switzerland appearances were made with his own black designer and hardware. Like a Sonor Designer on the Black Ice World Tour and the previous Stiff Upper Lip Tour, Maple Light in "Solid Black" finish in the following composition:

  • 22x18 "bass drum
  • 13x13 "Tom
  • 16x18 "floor tom

Since he received his own Signature Snare (14x5 "brass shell; chrome-plated; cast hoop) from Sonor in 2009, he has been using it alternately with the Horst Link Signature Snare (also 14x5" brass shell; cast hoop).
