Heatheryhaugh is a villa in the Scottish town of Moffat in the Council Area Dumfries and Galloway . In 1988 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

The free-standing building is located on the northeastern edge of Moffat on Birnock Water , which flows into the Annan in Moffat . The neo-Gothic villa was built around 1810 and expanded in 1828. In addition, an older building, which was integrated into the villa, emerges on the north-facing rear. The basement of the two-story building is on the east side directly above the Birnock Waters. Inside, numerous doors, shutters and chimneys are ornamented in Gothic style.

The three-axis south-facing front is symmetrical. In the center is the rectangular, Gothic ornamented wooden portal with a canopy. Flanking are triple windows with stone pillars and cornices , while twin windows are let into the upper floor . They close with Scottish arches . The windows on the asymmetrically constructed west facade are designed with tracery just like the fighter windows. In contrast to the usually plastered south and west facades, the north and east facades are plastered with Harl . The villa closes with two parallel, slate-covered hip roofs .
