Heckington is a place in North Kesteven , Lincolnshire , south of the east-west running A17 motorway and directly on the railway line between Sleaford and Boston . It is one of the largest villages in Lincolnshire.

Today the place is mainly known for its unique windmill , which is known as a stone gallery Dutch mill (tower windmill) of the Lincolnshire type (conical, slender brick construction, mostly tarred, white onion hood made of wooden frames with tarred and whitewashed canvas and a tower ball, with a large compass rose) 1830 with five Wings was built and in 1892, after the entire hood was destroyed, it was given a "new" hood from a decommissioned eight-wing tower windmill from Boston. After their last owners and Müller John Pocklington it is still sometimes Pocklingtons mill (Engl. Pocklington's Mill ). After several restorations (1953/1972/1986/2004) it is windmillable again and open to the public, plus the world's only existing tower windmill with eight louvre blades, twelve of which were once in England.

Another attraction is St. Andrew's Church because of its stained glass windows with elaborate depictions, one of which shows the construction of the church.

Heckington train station with museum

A railway museum is housed in the Heckington train station from 1859, which belonged to the Great Northern Railway and is in the immediate vicinity of the mill.

The place was first mentioned in the 10th century and has a festival tradition that goes back more than 900 years. Since 1864 the Heckington Agricultural Show ("The Heckington Show") has taken place every year on the last weekend in July . It is one of the largest village shows in the whole of the UK with jousting games , various vehicle competitions, animal shows and races, a flea market, an agricultural market and displays of rural products.
