Heerenhus dunes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heerenhusdünen refers to a chain of dunes on the North Sea island of Langeoog .

These dunes are located in the western north of the island in the western part of the Oriole Valley . At the foot of the Heerenhusdünen runs the Heerenhusstraße , the current development of which was built during the Second World War . In the 18th century, this was the home of the island bailiff (Frisian: uns Heer sien Hus ). In the dunes there is also the emergency observation station, and a few meters south of it the Tjard sin Utkiek viewpoint , named after the sea rescuer Tjard Mannott . In the place of the orange-colored container top of the distress observation station, there was a so-called Würzburg device on the concrete base there, a remnant from that time , during World War II . To the west is the former property of Lale Andersen and the dune cemetery .
