Heidemarie Mundlos (born August 31, 1956 in Ochsendorf ; born Köchig ) is a German politician ( CDU ). She was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from 1994 - with one interruption in 2013 and 2014 - until 2017 .

Life

After graduating from the Julianum in Helmstedt in 1975, Heidemarie Mundlos studied horticulture at the Technical University of Berlin . In her job she initially worked for a few years in the Braunschweig area.

Heidemarie Mundlos is married to the teacher Bernd Mundlos and has three children, including the sociologist Christina Mundlos . During her children's education, she was involved as a parent representative in kindergartens and schools, became chairwoman of the school parents 'council and, as chairwoman of the German Parents' Association, was a prominent figure nationwide in numerous school policy debates from 1993 to 2005.

Her political commitment led her to the CDU in 1990 and to founding the district newspaper Schunter-Kurier in the Wenden-Thune-Harxbüttel district of the city of Braunschweig. Here she was elected to the district council for the first time in 1991, where she led the CDU parliamentary group until she was elected district mayor in 2001. She held this office until November 2011 and is still a member of the district council.

She made the leap into state politics in 1994 with a mandate in the Lower Saxony state parliament. In 1998 she became the spokesperson for science and cultural policy for the CDU parliamentary group and, after the 2003 election, in which she was able to win the direct mandate in constituency 4 (Braunschweig North-West) for the first time, she moved up to the group leadership as deputy chairwoman. There she was mainly responsible for social policy and defended her direct mandate in the extended constituency 3 (Braunschweig-West) in 2008. In the state elections on January 20, 2013, she did not make the leap into the state parliament; however, in July 2014 she moved up to replace Aygül Özkan in the state parliament. In the state election in 2017 it did not happen again.

Mundlos was a member of the state board of the CDU in Lower Saxony and was district chairman of the Braunschweig CDU from 2002 to 2012.
