The Heidesee near Finsterwalde is a flooded open pit residual hole (residual hole 131 N) of the former open pit Kleinleipisch . The Heidesee is connected by two overpassers with the Bergheider See in the northeast and with the Kleinleipischer See in the south. The lake has an area of 55 hectares and is part of the Grünhaus natural paradise of the NABU Foundation for National Natural Heritage . It can be reached via the Grünhaus-Panoramaweg and offers protected animal and plant species a habitat.
