Bergheider See

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bergheider Lake , south of Finsterwalde in Lichterfeld , Elbe-Elster district , is a flooded residual hole of the former mine Klettwitz-Nord of, northeast Niederlausitzer heathland area. The lake was named after the former place Bergheide , which had to give way to the mining of lignite from the Klettwitz-Nord opencast mine.

The flooding of the remaining hole, under the responsibility of the LMBV , began on September 1, 2001 and ended on May 19, 2014. The lake belongs to the Lusatian Lakeland , but is due to the distance of 20 kilometers to the connecting waterways of the connected Lusatian chain of lakes cut off. The Bergheider See has a water surface of around 320 hectares. The newly created drainage is via the lake basin into the Heidesee. Swimming is possible on the Lichterfelder Ufer (north bank). The other bank areas are reserved for nature conservation. There are restricted areas of the LMBV.

On the north bank of the lake there has been the visitor mine overburden conveyor bridge F60 since 2002 , with a length of 502 meters the largest mobile mining device in the world. It was made safely accessible for visitors. At the upper point you are 75 meters above ground. Together with the visitor mine, the lake is to be expanded into a recreational area. Among other things, floating houses, a water sports center and a holiday complex are to be built. The site is already being used as an event location, including the Feel Festival once a year. The starting project for the project was the Fürst-Pückler-Land International Building Exhibition from 2000 to 2010.

The completely renovated Landstrasse 60 from Lichterfeld to Lauchhammer , which leads past Bergheider See and was closed from summer 2010, has been open again since December 2015.
