Heilbronn wine village
The Heilbronner Weindorf is a traditional wine festival in Heilbronn , which has been celebrated every September around the Heilbronn town hall since 1971 .
The wine village is organized by Heilbronn Marketing GmbH, which allocates stand space to the cooperatives and wineries. The first successful high phase of the wine village was in the 1980s, when over 300,000 visitors were counted for the first time on nine days of the event. The number of visitors then declined and only reached the mark of around 300,000 visitors in recent years, including at the 36th Heilbronner Weindorf in September 2006. In 2010, the Heilbronner Weindorf was extended to ten event days for the first time. In 2011 there were 270,000 visitors. According to the suppliers, 2018 was "the best wine village for 20 years" with 250,000 visitors.
Over 300 wines are offered annually. The wine is usually served in "tenths of a glass" (0.1 l) and costs from 2 euros per glass. In 2006, twelve wine growers' cooperatives and 18 wineries and cellars offered almost 300 wines from the 2002 to 2005 vintages; around 75,000 bottles of wine were sold. In 2011, 298 different wines and 16 vintage sparkling wines were on offer, in 2012 there were 306 wines from the 1999 to 2011 vintages, and in 2019 there were more than 380 wines, sparkling wines and seccos. The stalls are adorned with eye-catching floral arrangements, for which a creative competition has been held since 1974. There is live music every day and several arbours offer seats. A family program is offered on Sundays, and a student day has been held on Wednesday since 2018.
The stands of the feeders, wineries and restaurateurs are relatively constant. In 2018, the "Neckarpiraten" were added to the port market, which above all involve the young audience in Sülmerstrasse. In 2019, for the first time, a bar with organic wines will be represented at the wine village with the eco-wine stand. The RBS Food Team is replacing the Rahtgeber snack bar for restaurateurs.
Around 20 percent of the visitors in 2006 came by public transport, two thirds of them with the Heilbronn tram , which, like some of the Heilbronn city buses, stops at the town hall.
The “Heilbronner Weindorf” brand is owned by a private company from the region.
