The Heilig-Geist-Spital in Blaubeuren is a medieval house that today houses the Prehistory Museum .

history

Between 1420 and 1424 citizens and the vicar general of the Bishop of Konstanz , Magister Johannes Ruess, donated the hospital. At that time, Blaubeuren was a Hellenstein town, which was sold to Württemberg in 1474 . Over time, the hospital became an important and wealthy institution.

In 1938 the hospital was closed and transferred to the city. After merging with the town house , the building became a nursing home, were maintained in the up to 2008 people

In the former entrance hall, a former chapel, a number of wall paintings have been preserved showing scenes from the life of " Saint Elisabeth of the Wartburg " from the 15th century.

today

Today the Prehistory Museum is located in the building and shows objects found in Swabian in the caves of the Swabian Alb .
