The Catholic Church of the Holy Cross is the institutional church in the Schwabing Hospital in Munich . It is located on the premises of the hospital and can only be entered through the hospital itself. The single-nave church building is 12.50 meters wide and 10.50 meters high. It is spanned by a brown spruce ceiling. The side paneling is made of the same material. The altar cross is from the 16th century and probably comes from the Nikolaikirche of the old Schwabing infirmary, which was abandoned in 1856.

Holy cross interior

As part of the new building of the Schwabing hospital, the Church of the Holy Cross was built and consecrated in 1910. Until 1950 the church belonged to the territory of the parish of St. Ursula . The Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent von Paul were commissioned to look after the sick in 1910. In 1965 the Sisters of Charity left the Schwabing Hospital due to a lack of young people. Only one sister (Gabina Felber) remained in the hospital and dedicated herself to caring for the church until 1993. Between 1992 and 1999 the church was renovated.
