The Heimatkreis Lank e. V. is a German homeland club in the former Lank office .

history

The "Heimatkundlichen Arbeitskreis Lank" was founded on May 13, 1971 by a seven-member committee. On June 12, 1979, the working group became the non-profit association “Heimatkreis Lank e. V. "

With the establishment, another step was taken to organize the local history work in the former Lank office. It was about creating a collection. In the past there had been a number of local researchers in Lank and Latum , but they all acted individually and did not pass on their findings. In the 1930s there was a Lanker History Association , to which the heads of the official administration belonged, but whose broad impact remained limited.

Goal setting

Namely, the Heimatkreis wants to research the history of the homeland and put it on paper, preserve and protect architectural monuments and natural monuments , protect and develop the natural landscape, maintain and preserve the local appearance and the peculiarities of the places of the former Lank office, cultivate the dialect and customs and support corresponding initiatives and honor a deserving member every year with the home award “Jacobs Leader”. This bronze plaque is based on the seal of the former pastor Wilhelm Jacobs in free interpretation (design: Michael Franke).

activities

One focus of the association's activities in recent years has been the installation of information boards in historical buildings or locations. Furthermore, the preservation and care of the monuments of the former Lank office is one of the main activities. Findings from historical research are also made available to the general public in the annual Heimatblatt Dä Bott . There is a monthly series of lectures with various historical summaries in the Teloy mill. The regular dialect table should keep the local dialect, the "Länkter Platt ", alive and cultivate it. Various publications in the “Im Rheinbogen” series complement the activities, as well as educational trips in Germany and in other European countries, as well as maintaining relationships with the twin town Loose Creek in the USA .
