Heimskringla is a funeral doom band that has been active since 2015 .

history

The anonymous Heimskringla project was supposedly founded by a person who calls himself Niðagrísur. According to the webzine iye zine, the project is based in the United States. On the official Facebook presence of the project, Antarctica is given as the home location. In 2015 the debut album Vikingløypa was released via Silent Time Noise . Riccardo Veronese , referring to the band name, praised the album for Doom-Metal.com as a successful achievement and a “ Nordic legend"Which" caught his attention ". However, there were no further reviews, as did subsequent recordings. Heimskringla, however, maintains a YouTube channel and a Facebook page, on which new music was occasionally presented, announcing further releases.

style

Heimskringla's music is described as "long, epic peppy, atmospheric and melodic Funeral Doom". The pieces are "often sparsely orchestrated". According to Veronese, Heimskringla can be compared to Shape of Despair and Ea in terms of atmosphere . The Italian webzine iye zine also refers to Shape of Despair and Ea from whose albums “eighty minutes of good music” hardly differs. It is thanks in particular to Niðagrisur's good melodic instinct that the music nevertheless knows how to convince.
