Heinrich Bertolf

Heinrich Bertolf (* 14th century in Aachen ; † 15th century there ) was mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Live and act

The son of lay judge Werner Bertolf and Katharina van der Linden, daughter of mayor Heinrich van der Linden , went through legal training and was appointed judge of the royal chair in Aachen. In 1385 he belonged together with his brother Johann and the lay judges Reinhard von Moirke , Arnold Volmer , Johann and Konrad von Pont as a representative of the city of Aachen to the besiegers of Reifferscheid Castle as part of a mission of the Maas-Rhine Peace Alliance. The alliance accused Johann V. von Reifferscheid of numerous raids in the near and far area and breaches of the peace. The siege itself was initially unsuccessful and the Alliance troops withdrew after three months of unsuccessful things. Nevertheless, Johann V. von Reifferscheid could be committed to an eight-year peace treaty.

In 1394 Heinrich Bertolf was appointed Vogt and Meier of Aachen and in 1404 was elected mayor of the Free Imperial City.

Heinrich Bertolf was married to Catharina von Segraedt, a daughter of the mayor Statz von Segraedt, the elder .
