Heinrich Decimator
Heinrich Decimator (* 1555 (1545) in Gifhorn , † 1627 in Schnarsleben ) was a German theologian and the author of a universal dictionary .
Heinrich was the son of the Dodendorf pastor Georg Decimator. He graduated from the University of Wittenberg in 1570. Then he was initially a teacher in Mühlhausen in Thuringia . In 1579 he was ordained a pastor in Schnarsleben in Magdeburg. He published various works, including the Sylva vocabulor , which appeared before 1586 . et phras. octo linguarum and the universal dictionary Thesaurus linguarum in universa vera Europa , published in 1589 and expanded several times up to 1615 , in whose dedication he thanks the cathedral chapter of Magdeburg for its promotion “from school dust to preaching office”. The first edition contained German, Latin and Greek; Hebrew and French were added in later editions. He also wrote an astronomical and poetic work published in Magdeburg in 1587 , Libellus de stellis fixis et erraticis .
