Heinrich Dinkelacker is the internationally known shoe brand for handcrafted welted shoes in the Budapest style from Heinrich Dinkelacker GmbH in Bietigheim-Bissingen . Company founder and namesake Heinrich Dinkelacker founded it in 1879 together with the Apollo shoe factory in Sindelfingen. Production has been taking place in Budapest since the 1960s .

Dinkelacker shoes are very robust according to their Hungarian design: Double-stitched frame constructions, stopp frames , cable frames , double and triple soles are typical ; The frame seam is also made invisible on single soles. Dinkelacker also has a few models in the English style in its range.

In 2005, the grandson of the company founder Burkhard Dinkelacker retired from the business at the age of 76. The company was taken over by Norbert Lehmann (former IBM manager, stake: 60%) as managing partner, Wendelin Wiedeking (then Porsche CEO, stake: 30%) and Anton Hunger (then head of communications at Wiedeking, stake: 10%) . The shoe manufacturer , which was initially taken over by the three shareholders from “Hobby” , is now operating profitably and was able to sell eight percent more shoes in 2008 than in the previous year and increase sales by 13%.

Dinkelacker has also been manufacturing bespoke shoes since 2007: The measurements are carried out in an in-house shop in Bietigheim-Bissingen, after which the last and a test shoe are made. Production then takes place in Budapest. In 2008, 9,000 pairs of handmade shoes were sold.

In December 2016 it was announced that the company will merge with the Berlin- based startup company Shoepassion . The company founded by Tim Keding and Henry Bökemeier in 2008 will hold 100% of the company shares in Heinrich Dinkelacker. In return, the previous shareholders will receive shares in Shoepassion .

Since autumn 2018, the Heinrich Dinkelacker brand has given the luxury retailer mybudapester.com access to the entire range of goods as the only company to date. This is made possible through an initial cooperation between the retailer and the startup company Shoepassion, which is hoping for greater penetration of the digital luxury markets.
